What is the HiSET?

The HiSET is the High School Equivalency Test

Will I get my high school diploma?

You will earn a HSE (High School Equivalency) Diploma.

​

Will I take regular high school classes?

Students take HSE courses in English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Reading.

​

Do I have to wear a uniform?

Students follow the LPPS Uniform Guidelines.

​

Can I graduate with my class?

Speak to the person in charge of graduation at your home-based school.

​

How long does the program take?

Students work at their own pace. They get out of the program what they put into it.

Principals and Counselors Information

  • Pathways is intended for students who are over-aged and under-credited.

  • Students must be at least 15 years old by September 1.

  • Email the Pathways School Counselor, Kellie Hargroder@lpsb.org, for an online application.

  • Students/Guardians will be contacted by Pathways staff to set up testing and interviewing appointments after an application is received.

  • Students must wear their school uniform to their interview.

  • Students will be tested to determine Reading and Math grade levels.

  • Immediately following testing, the student is interviewed by Pathways administration.

  • Applications must be received before Labor Day for the fall semester and before the Martin Luther King Day holiday for the spring semester.

  • Pathways administrators will notify schools as soon as a decision is made.
